How To Find A Niche Market

4

Let’s start with what a niche market is.  A niche market is basically a highly targeted market of people that you can sell things to.

Successfully identifying niche markets is one of the most important things that you can do if you want to be successful making money online.

I have had my share of battles with figuring out niche markets to be involved in.  In fact for the longest time, one of the things that has always perplexed me is how to find the correct audience to sell things to.  You may be also asking "How to find a niche market?"

Here is one of the best guides on niche marketing research that I have ever encountered (best of all it is completely free), and I have read quite a few.  It’s by my mentors Carson and Kyle the owners of Wealthy Affiliate University (where I started in October 2007 and am still a member).

Why there is so much confusion about niche market research

When people look at making money online they almost always try to find a product first.  I’ve done this more times than I can count.  Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t.  Niche market research basically turns this idea around.   When you are working on finding niche markets finding the people comes before finding the product.

So when looking for niche markets you need to find your audience first, then you can present them with want they want to buy.  This increases your odds of success dramatically.

How to find a niche market – Ice and eskimos

I’m sure you’ve heard the saying "They can sell ice to eskimos".  This is usually used to describe someone with amazing sales ability.  But here’s an interesting question.  Wouldn’t be easier to sell heaters to eskimos, or maybe specialty lamps that produce"sunlight" when it is only light out for 3 hours a day where eskimos live, than ice?

You see if you start with the ice first then your job as a marketer just got 10 times harder.  But, if you start with the eskimos first, then your job just got a whole lot easier.   Because it is easier to identify what the eskimos might buy, then where the ice might sell.

Make sense?
