Making Money Online

How Niche Marketing Makes It Possible

I’m sure if you are anything at all like me, you find your email box stuffed full with all kinds of make money online offers and scams.   I’ll be the first on to admit that most of it is simply bull.  Unless you have mad tech skills and crazy business ability then their is no program that will make you $1000 a day in just a month.

But there are some legitimate opportunities out there.  You see I have been quietly making my living online since June 2007, so I know that it is possible, but even I didn’t quite believe it until I got my first paycheck in the mail from my first successful marketing campaign.

I make my money through niche marketing.  Basically what this means is that I target specific audiences of people who are either very passionate about their hobbies and interests or who need a problem solved.   I also don’t market anything that I own.  I utilize the vast array of affiliate programs that are available out there and I make a commision when someone buys through my link.

Because of all the possible niches there are still tremendously large opportunities to make money online.  The reality is that more and more people are spending money online every single day.  I know this is true both from the statistics I’ve read and because I was a retail manager and watched more and more of my business go online every year.  Frankly I got sick of struggling to make my store run.  I found a way out.  I found a handful of niches where I make money.

Find Your Niche to Start Being Profitable.

There are many ways to identify a niche to work in.   I will go over three that I find useful and give you a link to a 30 page free resource that will help you uncover ever niche you could possibly ever need to make money online.

#1. Identify your own passions.  Is there something that you are really into?  Many people have the most success promoting products and services that they understand.  Make a list of your own hobbies and interests – this is not the time to edit.  What do you like?  Are you a tech person?  Do you really enjoy sports?  Are you a family person?  Do you like to play video games, scrapbook, read, garden, hike, or canoe?  If so, these are all potential niches.  Make a list of 5 to 10 things that you enjoy.

#2. Identify what is hot. Even with huge competition, it is easiest to sell what is selling.  Go to eBay and check out which auctions have a lot of bids and which auctions have a lot of completed sales.  This will help you to identify what is hot and selling online.  Take notes, all of these things are also niches.

#3. Go to a Barnes & Nobles.  Have you ever checked out the magazine selection at a Barnes and Nobles or a Borders.  It is amazing how detailed these magazines get.  A good rule of thumb is that if a topic has a print magazine, it is a niche that has potential profit making ability.  Write down 5 or 10 subjects that look interesting to you and there is a new niche.

These are a few of my favorite techniques that I learned from the people who taught me how to make money online Kyle and Carson, the owners of Wealthy Affiliate University.  Where I am still a member.  If you join there look me up-  my forum name is hnoelh :) .

They have put together a completely free guide on how to find your niche.  I’ve been marketing online for a year and I even learned some new stuff.  Honestly, they are who I turn to first for any marketing advice.
